In the year 1996, Minalabac National High School started as an annex school of Hobo High School, a high school situated kilometers away from the Poblacion. Seeing the urgent need to provide high school to students living in the Poblacion and nearby barangays, an annex was made possible.

Three permanent teachers were assigned to handle first year classes. These were Mrs. Gemma A. Clarino, Mrs. Imelda Del Rosario and Mrs. Fe Sibulo. Mrs. Leonora A. Belano was appointed by then, Division of School Superintendent, Mrs. Elena Tino, as Teacher-In-Charge (TIC) to oversee the school operations.

By July 9 1997, this annex became a national high school by virtue of Republic Act No. 8552. With such provision, the school has acquired a separate identity, not in any way affiliated with Hobo High School. Thus the name, Minalabac National High School was born.

During the school year 1997-1998, the enrollment reached at 192. All year levels were completed. By March 1998, 22 graduates have successfully completed secondary education. For the succeeding years, enrollment tends to rise.

The millennium graduates for S/Y 1999-2000 totaled at 103. No other than Gov. Luis Villafuerte graced the commencement exercise as a speaker. Indeed, his generosity helped the school a lot.

Congressman Rolando Andaya Jr. and his predecessor, Ex-Cong. Rolando Andaya Sr. have showed their concern for school improvement by providing buildings for students. Ex-Mayor Raul Nocos has also extended his help for the school improvement.

The Parent-Teachers and Community Assn. (PTCA) officers have also played an important role in school improvement. Through the leadership of its President, Mr. Eleno Tocloy, Harmonious relationship was a built between parents and school. The first set of PTCA Officers has exerted their effort to promote good relationship in school.

The first PTCA Officers were the ff.: Mr. Eleno Tocloy (Pres.), Mr. Rafael Warde (Vice-Pres.) Mrs. Bela Pellosis (Secretary), Mrs. Emerita Vergara (Trea.), Mr. Tyrone Jaucian Sr. (PIO), Mr. Vargas Mr. Caganda (Bus. Mgrs.) Mr. Lauta as Sgt. at Arms and Mrs. Eugenia Baracinas as muse.

Minalabac National High School is only three years old. But its improvement is surely not to be avoided. For the next years, everybody is hopeful to see a much improved MNHS.
