A teacher is said to be a model of the community, she is the mirror of goodness so she needed to be look respectable every time. This practice teaching gives me the experience that will serve as basis in my future career. Minalabac National High School teaches me that a teacher is not only good in teaching but also in singing, dancing, adapting and adjusting herself to what is needed for the time.
In the eight of December year 2016, we are deployed to our cooperating schools. Fortunately, MNHS is where I was assigned and there I meet different kind of person from the teachers to the students and colleagues coming from Bicol State College of Applied Sciences and Technology. A big challenge that I encounter is teaching while your student is unable to focus on your lesson because they are not comfortable with their sits and the ventilation is not well. Teaching also in public is sometimes costly because if you want the students to learn more, you need to spend some penny for instructional materials since they are lacking of educational materials.
Handling grade nine students is a little bit tiring but most of it is enjoyable. They are observant that even your legs hair, lipstick you wear will be notice and they are careless when talking like cussing here and there. I learned from my students that rank is not really basis of your capability. Every child can be the best when they’re doing what they love.
At first I’m spending sleepless night just to make sure that I have lesson plan, instructional materials, and prepared for the lesson to get high grades as my cooperating teacher observe the next day but as I engulf myself in teaching and the more I get to know my students I forget to care about my grades. I ended up making my preparation with them on my head like asking myself “Will they like it? Will they learn from these?” I was motivated by them in short they become my inspiration. Those hardships are worth when I see that my class who seldom talk is now having active conversation with me about our lesson. When one of my students who only show up during exam is now greets me good morning everyday. When I see that my naughtiest student are doing his best to entertain us during our class discussion and preparing every assignment that I gave, its make my heart flutter. The happiness that I felt when watching them gives me unexplainable satisfaction that take away all the tiredness and push me to do better in this profession.
My experienced while pre-service teaching in Minalabac National High School leaves a mark in my heart. I will always miss the times of teaching, the craziness of students, the advice and support of my cooperating teacher as well as the staff that become close to my heart. It’s a bliss indeed meeting the MNHS Family. From the deepest of my hypothalamus “MNHS, Thank you and I love you from the moon and back!”
