Everybody says that actual teaching is very hard especially for beginners like us, given that many things have been changed; the curriculum, the policies and educational systems. It was not until we have experienced teaching in Minalabac National High School, a school in which a group of six students, with different fields of specialization, were assigned.

Of course we have experienced some difficulties during the practice teaching. Miscommunications were made, and some mistakes that anyone can be ashamed of. But we’re proud that we have learned from it, and determined not to do it again as much as possible. One specific example is I entered the Principal’s Office, because my cooperating teacher said that all student teachers will have a meeting with the Principal at exactly 8am. When I entered the room, I saw that student teachers from BISCAST were only there, and all eyes were on me. The Principal then asked, “Are you also from BISCAST?” Of course the question sounds sarcastic to me, because the answer is obvious; I’m in white and they’re in pink, so therefore I’m not from BISCAST. So I apologized, gently turned back then closed the door quietly.  There are other experiences that I can’t mention, and to express it in Math, I can say that 75% went right during the practice teaching and 25% that things have gone wrong during the practice teaching.

Being punctual has been a problem to me, so I forced to live in an apartment along with my co-student teachers from CBSUA. Traveling has not been a problem to me until I experienced going to Hobo, Minalabac which was far away from MNHS. I was panicking because its’ almost 8am and I’m not yet in MNHS. Because of that I missed my first class of that day. But living in an apartment with my co-student teachers has been a great experience for me, with all those memorable things that each of us shared and were all worth remembering.

During the practice teaching, I have accomplished many things including activities and events that were celebrated annually. I even composed a song combining math words guided by the flow of the song, and didn’t expect that my students will won with that song. I even sang and danced during the PASIK-LOVE, which I unexpectedly accomplished.

I have experienced things during the practice teaching in MNHS that I have never experienced before, and accomplished tasks that challenged us and pushed us to our limits. I am glad and grateful that I had this kind of experience.
