Being assigned at Minalabac National High School was not at my favor, my first choice Cooperating school was Sagrada Familia High School because topographically wise it is just one barangay (1.5km) from our house. Things happened that we can not control, so I was assigned at Minalabac National High School together with 5 more student teachers from CBSUA, 2 from them was from Balatan, Camarines sur, 2 from Balatas, Naga and 1 from Del Rosario, Naga. From the first time the 6 of us met, we already decided to rent an apartment near the school where we were assigned so that going to school early in the morning won’t be a problem.

On the first day of our practice teaching(Dec. 8, 2016) we were accompanied by our Supervising teacher, Mrs. Maria Carla N.L. Baduya who formally introduced us to the principal of Minalabac National HS. It came to happen on that day the school was conducting an activity on Communication Arts participated by the different secondary schools in Minalabac. After we’ve been introduced to the principal, we were also introduced to our respective Cooperating teachers. My cooperating teacher is Mrs. Rowena M. Montalbo also a graduate of Education Major in Biology at University of Nueva Caceres. She is very approachable and soft-hearten person that’s why I easily became comfortable talking with her. We were dismissed after we’ve been introduced so we went back to our apartment.

December 12 when we had our first regular service as practice teachers, I was excited and nervous at the same time to meet my students. For the first week I only have to observed my CT how she deliver a lesson. The preceding weeks was the climax of our practicum. We are tasked to complete a 10 weeks of service. Those sleepless nights and weeks was spent in making Lesson plans, Visual materials and Checking/recording the outputs of our students. I have encountered different kinds of students with different needs so it was a challenge for me to deal with that problem. I can say that somehow I’ve dealt their needs successfully. I was so thankful that the students were very cooperative

Being in the field of practice teaching was a mix of experiences. I had ups and downs, I’ve experienced the highs and lows that every student teacher experienced. I’ve underwent sacrifices and struggles during the practicum emotionally, intellectually, physically, socially and financially. On the other hand I’ve survived because I have my motivations and inspirations from my family, students, friends and my special someone.

Having the opportunity to conduct this kind of practicum as future teacher is a very useful experience for the Education students for they are given the glimpse of what will be the teaching job if they want to pursue this kind of profession.
